Shine Council

Inspiring each other to shine!

'Let your light shine, so that others may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.' Matthew 5:16

Our Shine Council members help us to 'let our lights shine' and put our Christian Vision and Christian Values into action in our school and in our daily lives.  Each of our Shine Councillors shared with their classes why they would like to be a Shine Councillor and have been voted for democratically in our Pupil Elections at the start of the school year and have a regular meeting with Mrs Walton, the Headteacher.

Their role is to help us make sure we put our Christian distinctiveness into action, and that all our community is reminded to use our Christian Values in all aspects of life.

Here are our Shine Councillors for this school year.  Well done for being elected by your classmates in our elections!

The Shine Council led the Harvest Worship in our school hall. They shared a drama telling the Parable of the Sower to the whole school. They collected tins and packets of foods for our local foodbank too before leading us in prayers and Harvest Songs.

Meeting on 29th October

Posted: Oct 29, 2024 by: L Walton (L.Walton) on: Shine Council Blog

We met again this morning, and are planning our first worship. We have agreed to focus on Anti-Bullying week as our theme which this year has the focus on Respect.  This is Year 5's Christian Value - so it fits in well with our Shine Council. All of us shared our ideas about what we could put into the worship. Zach suggested we make up a song or a rap, and he is going to get busy with this!  Heather suggested we do some acting out of people showing respect and not showing respect and make a film of this - so she is going to get this started with help from some others too.  We agreed that we would make some posters to publicise Odd Socks Day in school and the theme of Anti Bullying week.  Mrs Kelly will be helping with this.  The children have chosen some songs for our worship, and three children are writing prayers. We will be working hard behind the scenes to put our Anti-Bullying Week worship and ideas into action.
