SPECIAL DAYS AND CELEBRATIONS
We love celebrating special days that bring our school community together and enrich our learning experience. These occasions create wonderful opportunities for fun, creativity, and building lasting memories. From traditional celebrations to exciting themed events, our special days inspire, educate, and connect us.
Remembrance
Our Year 6 class walk to the local cenotaph and take part in the Armistice Day Service in Ashton Gardens, along with the Mayor, members of the local community, and a number of other local schools. Our Year 6 children learn about the two World Wars in their History lessons, so they have a particular understanding of this sombre service.
Odd Socks Day
As part of Anti-Bullying Week we all took part in Odd Socks Day. This fun and meaningful day reminds us that being different is something to celebrate! By wearing odd socks, we show our commitment to kindness, acceptance, and celebrating what makes each of us unique.
Theme Week - The Moon
We celebrated a magnificent moon week at St Thomas'. We were lucky enough to borrow real moon rocks from NASA! The rock were brought back from the Apollo 15, 16 and 17 missions. The children found awe and wonder learning about how special our moon is and what part it plays in our solar system!
Theme Week - The Olympics
The whole school learned so much and took part in a wide range of new sports. The children took part in workshops in Archery, Handball and Golf. Each class learnt about the story of the Ancient and Modern Olympics, looked at some of the flags and countries which participate and learned about a famous Olympian, some of their life story and about how they train and prepare. In addition to all this, the whole school thoroughly enjoyed a day with GB athlete and long jumper, Reynold Banigo.
