Welcome back to our final half term in Year One! We cannot believe how quickly this year has gone, and we are excited for another busy and fun-filled few weeks of learning together.

This half term, we will continue our topic all about the Victorians. The children will have a very special visitor coming into school to teach us more about what life was like during Victorian times. We are looking forward to exploring Victorian schools, toys, clothes and daily life through hands-on activities and exciting stories from the past.

In Science, we will be learning all about animals. The children will investigate different types of animals, their habitats and what they need to survive. We know the children will enjoy discovering lots of fascinating facts!

During our first week back, we will be visiting a local wood to continue our learning about trees and nature. This will be a wonderful opportunity for the children to explore the outdoors and observe different types of trees and plants in their natural environment.

We are also very excited about our upcoming trip to Blackpool Zoo! The children will have the chance to see a variety of amazing animals up close and link their learning from Science to real life experiences.

We are looking forward to a fantastic final half term full of learning, exploration and memorable experiences!

In June, the children will take part in the Phonics Screening Check. This is a short, fun activity where children read words to show how well they can use their phonics skills. We will continue to practise every day in class through games, reading, and activities, so the children feel happy and confident. There is no need to worry—just keep enjoying reading together at home!

As always, we are looking forward to celebrating all the wonderful achievements in our Achievers Assembly—keep working hard for those Star and Shine Awards!

It’s going to be a busy, fun-filled term with lots of learning, laughter, and success. Let’s make it a great one, Year 1!
